WISBECH WATERFRONT Location: Wisbech, Cambridgeshire Client: Fenland District Council Three public realm schemes, forming part of a wider masterplan for the redevelopment of a former riverside industrial site as a mixed-use residential and business area. Projects involved the creation of attractive waterside spaces with a waterfront promenade, innovative flood wall solutions, signature open spaces and a new linear park. The refurbished Nene Parade forms the heart of the scheme, transforming a run-down backwater into an attractive riverside public space, with raised planting areas providing views of the river. This route links the town centre with the prominent new Boathouse Business Centre and yacht club building. The public realm design creates a central courtyard square, which complements the strong design of the Boathouse and offers provision for outdoor seating to the adjacent café . The second phase of the scheme was completed in 2012. BURA: The Waterways Renaissance Awards: Strategy and Regeneration and RTPI commendation for renewed neighbourhoods 2007
